"You are the partner that looks unassuming and like the 'good cop' but is actually 'just as bad cop'. As a meat shield you're entirely too small to be effective," I reassured her with a grin. This was almost sort of comfortable. It's not like we have experience working together like this but it's familiar enough ground in general to me that I can feel a bit more comfortable. Of course trying to find the balance between "I must protect Maggie from all harm" and "Maggie is an adult who can take care of herself in a lot of situations" will be tough. In general though I'm feeling kind of excited about it in an incredibly ominous way. Because we're Dresdens, there has to be an ominous feeling to go along with anything.
