“I just wanted to share some of the beautiful things that magic could do,” I explained, even as I was beaming inside that she likes the display. Let me tell you, a moment with the person you care about more than just about anything else pressed close to your side watching something as beautiful as this? That was a pretty special moment.
We continued to watch the lights in silence for a bit longer until they eventually faded. Technically I could cast the illusion anywhere but it wouldn’t be the same as out here in the wild wilderness. But if she asked nicely I’d do it again anytime she wanted.
“See? No explosion. I know you probably thought it wasn’t possible but nothing went boom!” I said, pausing for a moment before adding. “Huh, I kind of expected fate to throw in an explosion there just to mess with me.”
